A plea has been made by Korean parents residing in New Jersey for the immediate release of their daughter, who they believe has been falsely accused and imprisoned. Yoo Seon-min, known by her American name Grace Chan, was arrested and detained in May last year on charges of murdering her 3-month-old son.

Jaewoo Yoo and Youngseon Yoo, devastated parents of Yoo Seon-min, question the allegations against their daughter. They argue that the baby’s death was not a result of her attack, but rather a medical issue that existed in the womb. The parents shared that during Seon-min’s pregnancy with twins, they discovered that one of the babies had an incurable disease. Despite recommendations from obstetricians to have a miscarriage, Seon-min chose to give birth. However, the baby faced numerous health problems, including being underweight and requiring hernia surgery.

Tragedy struck in March last year when the baby experienced breathing difficulties and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the baby passed away three days later. The parents emphasize that a month after the baby’s death, Seon-min was taken away for investigation, and she was subsequently indicted on the charge of attacking her own child. She has been held in detention for 1 year and 4 months.

Yoo’s parents raise important questions, asking what parent would harm their two-month-old baby, and expressing their belief that it was predetermined for Elliot, the deceased infant, to face an unhealthy life. They highlight the injustice of the situation and the toll it has taken on their family, specifically on Seon-min’s 4-year-old eldest daughter and her twins. The eldest child grieves for her mother every day, while the younger son grows up without the touch of his mother’s arms.

In a sincere plea, Yoo’s parents ask fellow Koreans to join the petition movement for the release of their daughter. More information on the relief petition for Yoo Seon-min can be found on the website justiceforgrace.org.

Request to participate in the petition for release

“Return my daughter, who was falsely accused and imprisoned, to her family.”

The parents of Yoo Seon-min (American name Grace Chan), a Korean-American woman from New Jersey who was arrested and detained on charges of murdering her 3-month-old son in May last year, issued an appeal demanding that she be release her immediately. .

Jaewoo Yoo and Youngseon Yoo said on the 7th, “What parent in the world would kill their own baby through violence?” and argued, “The baby’s death was the result of a medical problem that existed in the womb, not the mother’s attack.”

They continued, “When my daughter Seonmin was pregnant with twins, we found out that one of the babies had an incurable disease. “The obstetrician-gynecologist recommended a miscarriage, but Seon-min did not break her will and gave birth,” she said. “However, this baby had serious health problems, including being underweight and undergoing hernia surgery.”

The baby suffered breathing difficulties in March last year and was rushed to hospital after paramedics arrived. “Unfortunately, the baby died three days after being in hospital.”

In their appeal, Yoo’s parents said, “On May 4th last year, about a month after the baby’s death, people came to the house and took Seon-min away to investigate. He was indicted on the charge that the death of the a baby was supposed to be attacked by the mother, and he was held for 1 year and 4 months.” He is being held in a detention centre,” he said. “What parent would beat a baby who was just over two months old to death? “There was a judgment from the womb that Elliot, the baby who died, would not live a healthy life,” he said, once again expressing his sense of injustice.

Yu’s parents said, “Seonmin has a 4-year-old eldest daughter and twins. “The eldest child cries every day and misses his mother, and the younger son grows up without ever being held in his mother’s arms,” he said, adding, “I sincerely ask all countrymen Korea join the petition movement for Seonmin.” Yoo Seon-min’s relief petition can be found on the website (justiceforgrace.org).
