Korean companies participating in US CES ‘Corona confirmed’ emergency

It was found that employees of domestic companies who participated in CES 2022, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA from the 5th to the 7th, were diagnosed with Corona 19 locally.

A number of domestic employees including Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Motor Company, SK Group, and Coway have been infected with Corona 19. Reporters from domestic media companies who went to the CES exhibition were also confirmed to have been confirmed.

On the 11th, Samsung Electronics announced through an in-house notice that “about 20 executives and employees who went on a business trip to CES were confirmed locally for Corona 19.”

Employees who have been confirmed are in self-quarantine in the United States under the support of medical staff preemptively dispatched by Samsung Electronics. Most of them are known to be asymptomatic or mild.

Samsung Electronics plans to fly a charter plane and transport confirmed employees to Korea from the 11th to the 12th (US local time). After that, they plan to stay in a domestic quarantine facility.

Six executives and employees of Hyundai Heavy Industries also tested positive in the United States and are being quarantined in the country without being able to board the return flight. Two of them are asymptomatic and the rest are believed to be mild. Several Hyundai Motors employees also tested positive for COVID-19.

SK Group also confirmed that an employee of an affiliated company who participated in CES was diagnosed with COVID-19. It is also known that two Coway employees have not been able to return to Korea as they were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.

In addition, it is understood that the lifespan of reporters from domestic media companies who went to cover CES have also been confirmed.
