Doha: The Interior Ministry has stepped up action against those violating Kovid regulations in Qatar. Another 425 people were arrested for violating the law, officials said. Of these, 349 were prosecuted for not wearing masks in public.
70 people were arrested for not maintaining a safe social distance and six for not having the Ihtiras application on their mobiles. All were handed over to the prosecution for further action. Home Ministry officials have arrested thousands of people in Qatar so far and handed them over to prosecution for violating Kovid regulations.
It is mandatory to wear a mask when leaving the country. As part of Kovid preventive measures, it is recommended that no more than four people, except one family member, travel in the car. Violations related to not wearing a mask will be dealt with under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Order No. 17 of 1990.
