KT Offers Relief to Small Business Owners: 1-Month Fee Discount After Internet Outages
KT Announces Compensation Plan for Internet Router Failure
KT has announced a compensation plan to reduce one day’s charges for subscribers who have experienced inconvenience due to the recent internet router failure.
According to the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, KT announced through a notice that they have decided to compensate customers who have recently experienced internet and IPTV service outages due to a specific manufacturer’s wireless router terminal (AP).
The router failure occurred from 4:57 PM to 9:58 PM on the 5th. It is understood that the internet access failure occurred because some routers were unable to handle the excessive internet traffic generated during the firewall replacement work of security software (SW) company AhnLab. KT and SK Broadband experienced failures in the routers they supplied, while LG U+ experienced problems in private routers purchased directly by subscribers.
In the case of KT, general customers will receive a discount on the usage fee equivalent to 10 times the duration of the outage in addition to the daily usage fee. In the case of small business owners, a discount on the usage fee equivalent to 1 month will be provided (IPTV will be discounted based on general customer standards). In the case of subscribers who signed up with a business registration number or who are managed as individual business owners by KT for VAT reporting, etc., a lump-sum compensation will be provided.
The compensation period will be carried out without a separate application procedure for the September usage fee billed in October. The compensation amount will be calculated based on the average usage fee for the past three months.
