[LCK 결승 예고] No matter who wins, records are pouring in… Gen.G vs. 5th consecutive finals meeting. T1

For the first time in League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), the same team will face each other in the finals five times in a row.

Gen.G and T1 will meet in the 2024 LCK Spring Split finals to be held at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 14th and compete in a best-of-five series for the championship cup.

It seems that no matter who wins this final, there will be a variety of records. Gen.G has won 4 times in a row, and T1 has won 11 times, unprecedented records await.

Gen.G challenges for 4th consecutive win

Gen.G won the 2022 LCK Summer held in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, lifting the trophy for the first time since 2018, when it participated in the LCK under the name Gen.G. Since then, Gen.G has achieved three consecutive wins by winning the 2023 Spring and Summer seasons.

The three teams that have achieved three consecutive wins in the LCK, which has been running for 13 years, are T1, Dplus Kia, and Gen.G. If Gen.G wins in the finals held on the 14th, they will become the first team in LCK history to win four splits in a row.

There are quite a few experts who predict that Gen.G will win. This is because they showed near-perfect performance this spring and the players have a great desire to win. Top laner Kim “Gi-in” Ki-in, who moved to Gen.Ji ahead of the 2024 season, has no experience winning the LCK, and jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s last win was in 2021 during his time with Damwon Kia, the predecessor of Dplus Kia.

‘Faker’ Lee Sang-hyeok and coach Kim Jeong-gyun challenge for their 11th championship

If T1 wins, another record will be created in the LCK. T1, ‘Faker’ Lee Sang-hyeok, and coach Kim Jeong-gyun will all become the first players to win 11 championships in the LCK. T1, ‘Faker’, and coach Kim Jeong-gyun are continuing to break their own records in this area.

T1 has already set another record by advancing to the finals for the sixth consecutive time. T1 won the match against Hanwha Life Insurance on the 13th and achieved the milestone of advancing to the finals for the sixth consecutive time since advancing to the finals of the 2021 summer season.

Of course, T1 is also waiting for an unwanted record. If T1 loses to Gen.G in the finals and takes second place, they will become the first LCK team to finish in second place four times in a row. So far, the teams that have finished runner-up three times in a row have been T1 and Griffin.

Gen.G is far ahead of its opponents…T1 “I will take revenge”

Gen.G is on a 7-game winning streak against T1 on the LCK stage. Gen.G, who won the spring finals held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul last year by beating T1 3-1, lost to T1 in the international tournament MSI, but continued their winning streak in the LCK held in Korea.

They added 2 consecutive wins in the summer regular league and defeated T1 both in the summer playoffs and finals, recording 5 consecutive wins in the 2023 LCK alone. Afterwards, in 2024, they won both matches in the LCK spring season.

For Gen.G, who have never lost to T1 recently, it would be welcome to have T1 as their opponent in the finals. T1 is also expected to end its nemesis relationship so far, and there is no stage more important than the finals, so the match between the two teams is expected to be fiercer than ever.
