Prosecutors in the application for the arrest warrant of Democratic Party representative Lee Jae-myeong in relation to the ‘Seongnam FC illegal donations case’ said that Lee Jae-myeong, the Democratic Party representative, had listened to requests from companies in the jurisdiction he identified the amount to be paid in order to have the history of successfully running Seongnam FC Reported on the 17th.

Summarizing our comment on the 173-page application for an arrest warrant for Lee, the prosecution said, “Officials of Doosan Construction, Naver, Cha Hospital, and the Purun Wirye Project all decided to pay a large amount of bribes to Seongnam FC at the behest of Chief Executive Lee. , The amount is also consistently stated to the effect that the suspect has been decided unilaterally. “

Representative Lee received 13.35 billion won in donations from four companies, including Doosan Construction, while he was mayor of Seongnam, and in return, he is accused of bribing a third party for providing convenience such as building permits or land use change . The prosecution’s request for an arrest warrant is said to detail the situation in which the hitherto unknown CEO Lee asked for donations from Naver and received the request.

According to the arrest warrant bill, Naver established a software training institute called ‘NHN Next’ in March 2013, but faced operational problems because it did not receive permission from the Ministry of Education. In July 2014, Naver, which required school land and buildings in accordance with related laws, promoted the purchase of a site for an old sewage treatment plant in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si as a school site.

However, after hearing this, the prosecution opined that CEO Lee instructed Seongnam City officials to convey to Naver the position that “in exchange for the sale of the school site, Naver wants a certain contribution plan.” CEO Lee is also reported to have said, “Naver has not contributed to Seongnam City so far.”

In addition, the prosecution stated that CEO Lee conveyed his intention to Naver that “Seongnam FC needs 5 billion won” in exchange for selling the school site to Naver. The prosecution said, “CEO Lee was concerned that Seongnam FC’s financial difficulties would repeat every year during the suspect’s tenure if large-scale corporate sponsorship was not secured.” he did

However, Naver, which accepted CEO Lee’s intention, said it was worried that there would be audit problems in the future if it contributed 5 billion won. Ultimately, after internal discussions, Naver decided to move the graduate school to a new building next to Naver’s headquarters in Jeongja-dong, and tried to stop buying the site in Gumi-dong.

However, the prosecution considered that Naver was concerned that it would suffer disadvantages related to various permits and licenses related to a new building in Jeongja-dong, Seongnam-si (Naver’s new building) if it did not comply with the request of the CEO Lee for donations to Seongnam FC.

In response, Jeong Jin-sang, head of policy in Seongnam City at the time, said, “(Mayor Lee Jae-myung) only needs to sponsor Seongnam FC during his term in office.” He reportedly applied to Naver with the intention of “please do it.” However, the prosecution wrote in the warrant application that Naver requested “to sponsor 4 billion earned over three years, but to come up with a plan so that the name of Naver’s company is not revealed so that the fact is not revealed externally.”

Accordingly, in 2015, Naver sponsored Seongnam FC with 4 billion won in the form of a donation through the incorporated corporation ‘Hope Salim’, and the prosecution’s verdict is that CEO Lee and Jin-Sang Jeong gave preferential treatment to various licenses related to Naver’s new Building in return..
