Lee ⁢Ji-hoon Named Pohang⁢ City Ambassador

POHANG – Actor and singer Lee Ji-hoon has been appointed‍ as an ambassador for Pohang, city officials announced. Lee, a performer ⁤with⁣ a 29-year career, will serve a two-year term ending in April 2027.

Known for his roles in TV ⁢Chosun’s⁢ ‘Mr.Trot 3,’ the musical ⁣’Notre Dame de Paris,’ and his YouTube channel ‘Gia Life,’ Lee’s “positive image and constant challenges” were cited as reasons for the appointment, according to a city statement.

Lee’s connection to Pohang includes a performance at ⁤last year’s ‘Youngil Man Startup Day.’ Moreover, ‍three of Lee’s nephews are ⁤students at Handong University in Pohang, solidifying his ties to the⁢ area.

Since marrying Ayane ‍in 2021, Lee has emphasized⁢ family values, sharing his experiences living with a large extended ⁢family. City officials believe this family-oriented ⁤image ⁢aligns with Pohang’s⁢ vision for the future.

Pohang is currently focused on attracting young people and families through initiatives like the ‘Corporate Innovation Park,’ a project selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The⁢ city hopes ⁤Lee’s image will help⁤ address social ‍challenges such as population decline ⁢and low birthrates.

The ‘Corporate Innovation⁢ Park’ aims to foster a ⁣strong start-up ecosystem and create a desirable living and educational surroundings for young people and families.

pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok expressed optimism about the appointment. “I expect Lee Ji-hoon to promote the charm of Pohang, and also ‍the Corporate Innovation Park ⁣buisness,” he said in a statement.

Pohang has been collaborating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and⁣ Transport since the Corporate Innovation Park project was selected last year. The city aims to secure integrated plan approval in the second half of this ⁣year, expediting the licensing process.
