Legends of Runeterra, which has reduced the size of its development team, introduces new monetization options.

On the 2nd, Riot Games explained the future direction of the game on the official Legends of Runeterra website. Until now, Legends of Runeterra has covered the development costs of other games, but recently announced that it will reduce the size of the team through a large-scale restructuring and shift its operational focus from PvP to PvE.

As the reason for this, the development team cited low sales compared to the costs of developing new content. This is because content such as boards, champion skins, and companions were not profitable, and the costs required to maintain updates and PvP modes were not guaranteed.

“The only reasonable approach to offsetting the development costs of PvP sets is to return to the traditional charging model of collectible card games,” he said. “However, because we appreciate the promise of easy access to cards, we focused on Path of Champions.” .” He explained.

In the future, Riot Games will add various packs and other monetization options focused on Champions’ Path to Legends of Runeterra. The aim is to increase the sustainability of the game by guaranteeing development costs with new products and improving the quality of updated content.

The development team added: “We attempted to make drastic changes from a business perspective, but failed, and now we have realized that the existing team is beyond what we can handle,” adding: “The plan current goal is to match the level of investment to the size of the sustainability team.”
