Members of the defense forces, security forces, paramilitary forces and operational reserves are voting this Friday in advance for the legislative and regional elections, scheduled for April 29.
At the General Gnassingbé Eyadéma public primary school and at the gendarmerie in Lomé, voting operations actually started at 7 a.m. in all polling stations and voters voted peacefully, noted the Savoir News Agency.
In each polling station, two ballot boxes are installed: one for the legislative ballots and the second for the regional elections.
The operation is done in two stages: “Each registered person first votes for the legislative elections, then returns to the voting booth to return to vote for the regional elections. Once the gesture is completed, he signs the register and dips his finger in the indelible ink,” a polling station manager explained to Agence Savoir News.

The electoral code provides for the possibility for the armed and security forces to cast their vote 72 hours before the day of the general vote.
The counting takes place on the day of the general election, after the vote of the entire electorate under the conditions provided for by the electoral code.

The electoral campaign which started on April 13 will end on Saturday (tomorrow) at 11:59 p.m. A total of 113 deputies and 179 regional councilors will be elected during these elections. And this is the first time that Togo is organizing regional elections. FIN
