Lula government closes 2023 with growing approval and optimism from Brazilians, says survey

An internal federal government survey, to which DCM had access, shows that 54% of Brazilians approve of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The survey was carried out by the Reputation and Image Research Institute (IPRI).

Compared to the previous survey, carried out in October, 51% of respondents approved of the current management. According to the survey, 39% disapprove of the Lula government, while 7% of those interviewed did not know or did not respond.

According to the results, 38% of respondents rate the government as excellent/good, 31% rate it as regular and 29% rate it as bad/terrible.

The survey also questioned the government’s performance. For 39%, Lula’s administration is “better than expected”, 25% evaluate it as “equal to expected”, while 34% classify it as “worse than expected”. 3% did not know or did not respond.

According to the survey, 52% believe that Brazil is improving, 38% believe that the country is getting worse, 7% believe that Brazil is the same and 3% were unable to respond.

The research carried out 2,007 telephone interviews with a representative sample of the Brazilian population aged 16 and over in the 27 federation units, between December 26th and 28th. The margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus, with a 95% confidence interval.
