(Central News Agency reporter Li Yawen, Taipei, 25th) Former President Ma Ying-jeou will lead young students to visit mainland China from April 1 to 11. The Mainland Affairs Council said tonight that the government’s policy stance on safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait is consistent, and any cross-strait exchanges and interactions should uphold reciprocity, dignity and be in compliance with norms.

The Mainland Affairs Council (Mainland Affairs Council) stated in writing tonight that all walks of life in Taiwan have long expected Ma Ying-jeou’s exchange activities in the mainland, and the government respects the currently announced itinerary. The government has a consistent policy stance on safeguarding peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. Any exchanges and interactions between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait should uphold reciprocity, dignity, and standards, promote mutual understanding, and should not unilaterally set political conditions and outcomes.

The Mainland Affairs Council pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party continues to exert compound pressure on Taiwan. When the head of state leaves office and goes to the mainland, he should take into account the overall social sentiment in Taiwan and reflect to the mainland Taiwan’s public opinion’s firm position of upholding democracy and freedom and safeguarding national sovereignty. “We also call on the Chinese Communist authorities to face up to the The objective fact that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are not subordinate to each other, and only by stopping the united front and differentiation in dealing with Taiwan, can it be conducive to positive cross-Strait interaction.”

The Mainland Affairs Council emphasized that the government supports healthy and orderly cultural and educational exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. At the same time, it has repeatedly reminded young people to be aware of the risks of traveling to the mainland, and that exchanges on the mainland should adhere to the principles of reciprocity and dignity, consider national dignity and social perception, and should not echo or cooperate with the CCP. To carry out united front propaganda against Taiwan, “we should abide by our laws and regulations and avoid engaging in behaviors that affect national security and national interests.”

Xiao Xucen, CEO of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, said today that at the invitation of mainland China, Ma Ying-jeou will lead young students to Guangdong, Shaanxi and Beijing from April 1 to 11 to visit Chinese cultural and historical attractions and enterprises. He will also visit Zhongshan with young students. Universities and Peking University allow students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to communicate.

Ma Ying-jeou is the first outgoing head of state to visit mainland China. He went to mainland China to worship his ancestors on March 27 last year. At the same time, he led young students to exchange with students in mainland China and visited cities such as Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Chongqing, and Shanghai. (Editor: Zhou Huiying) 1130325
