The surge follows Macklemore’s announcement that stadium owners threatened to cancel performances over his pro-Palestinian statements on stage during a September 4 concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Keith Pagello, founder of TicketData, linked the sudden market shift directly to the controversy surrounding the performer, noting that such a sharp price increase would not have happened without the recent headlines. Macklemore’s solo concert at the Colorado venue was originally announced in March.

Data compiled from ticket resale platforms including SeatGeek, Vivid Seats, Gametime, and StubHub shows a contrasting trend for the remaining dates of Ed Sheeran’s tour. While resale volume has increased since Monday, ticket prices declined at nine of the ten venues where Sheeran performances remain scheduled, according to TicketData figures cited by UA.News. Pagello noted that softening prices ahead of concerts reflect typical market behavior for late-summer tours, pointing out that ticket prices for Sheeran’s North American shows fell by an average of 22 percent during the final two weeks prior to the events.

Tour Lineup Changes and Humanitarian Pledge

Ed Sheeran stated on Instagram that the decision to remove Macklemore from the Loop tour was made by the promoter rather than personally by the artist. Following Macklemore’s removal, several other opening acts on the tour—including Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Beoga, and Lukas Graham—announced they would also step down from the lineup, leaving the replacement acts unannounced.

On Thursday, Macklemore announced plans to donate $1 million of his earnings from the tour to Palestinian humanitarian organizations. The donations target relief efforts in the region following the public fallout over his stage remarks at the New Jersey stadium.
