As space travel became the ‘new norm’, space agencies began already pricing seats. On Thursday, spaceship company Virgin Galactic announced that it would start selling tickets for space travel at $ 450,000 (approximately $ 3,33,51,772) per seat. The company’s announcement comes just weeks after billionaire and Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson’s space trip. Branson flew into space on July 11 aboard the Virgin Galactic rocket.

Last month, the world witnessed the first complete test flight of the spacecraft, which became a milestone in a project that began 17 years ago. After completing the journey, Branson returned safely. In June, the Virgin Galactic received approval from the U.S. Aviation Safety Regulator to fly people into space. Following this, the company’s shares rose 5% in trading on Thursday.

The company is offering three offers to its customers. There are three options: one seat, multiple seats, and a full flight purchase. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

$ 450,000 or Rs 3 crore may seem a bit high. But Richard Branson’s company also has a lucky draw option. It is offering two free tickets on one of the first commercial spacecraft. The trip is expected to take place in 2022. Registration is open until September 1st. The winner will be announced on September 29. Both tickets will be awarded to a single winner. Winners can bring their friend or partner along. Also, if you are an Indian, you are eligible to register.

The company has also set some minimum standards. People who fail at them will not be allowed to register. Must be at least 18 years old to attend. People with work relationships with Omes will also not be able to participate in the draw. Those on the United Nations’ list of embargoed countries will not be able to participate. But if you are an Indian, you can register for the competition.
