Brampton Celebrates Onam with Lavish Feast and Community Gathering

The vibrant Malayali community in Canada came together to commemorate Onam, a significant festival celebrated in Kerala, India. The grand festivities and feast, held at Eldorado Park in Brampton, were graciously provided at no cost to attendees. Additionally, participants were generously presented with thoughtful Onam gifts, elevating the joyous atmosphere even further.

The event garnered distinguished guest, Canadian Senator Garnet Genus, who graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. As an added highlight, the gathering offered an invaluable opportunity for attendees to engage in a spirited debate with Garnet, who also serves as the ‘Shadow Minister’ of the opposition Conservative Party.

Over two hundred individuals, including international students on visas, enthusiastically partook in the festivities. The organizers took immense pride in their ability to offer such a sumptuous feast, considering the prevailing economic recession and widespread unemployment. Jisha Thot, a prominent realtor, played a pivotal role as the main sponsor, ensuring the success of the event. Furthermore, Fabin from REG Immigration, Robin from Robby’s Truck and Trailer, Monsi from All Nation Auto, and Sherina from Travels also contributed to the celebration.
