Before the⁢ digital age, the American shopping mall served as a central gathering⁣ place,⁣ a ⁣modern-day agora were ⁣people could ​ shop, eat, and hang out. This concept ⁣was highlighted in the​ 1988 film ⁢”Bill⁣ and Ted’s ⁤Excellent Adventure,” where student Bill Preston pointed out the mall’s significance as ‌a ⁤social‌ hub to Socrates.

The rise of ‌the ⁤American ‌mall began in 1956 with the ‍opening of the ‍first fully enclosed shopping center in ‌Minnesota.This innovation quickly spread, leading to the construction ⁣of thousands of ‌malls across the United States.
