A man who says he appears significantly younger than his age attributes his youthful appearance not to cosmetic procedures, but to consistent healthy habits. Edson Brandao, who will turn 59 this month, reports that people frequently assume he has undergone cosmetic enhancements, but maintains he has never used Botox or fillers.

Brandao, described as an author, influencer, and digital marketing business owner, credits a long-term commitment to lifestyle choices for his vitality. He states that he realized the importance of preventative health measures when he reached the age of 40, understanding that aging is a cumulative process built upon daily routines.

For the past 18 years, Brandao has adhered to a consistent regimen. A cornerstone of this routine is daily exercise, combining both weight training and cardio. He emphasizes that the key is consistency, not extreme workouts. He believes strength training contributes to a youthful appearance, good posture, and sustained energy levels, while cardio supports heart health and mental clarity. “The body responds to what you ask of it,” he explains, “If you stop asking it to move, it stops responding.”

Diet plays an equally crucial role in Brandao’s approach. He actively avoids nine food categories: white bread, sugary cereals, fried foods, fast-food meals, processed cheese, sweets, chocolates, sugary drinks, and ultra-processed snacks. He believes these foods deplete energy and accelerate the aging process, noting a disconnect between the desire for a youthful appearance and the willingness to modify dietary habits.

Instead, Brandao focuses on consuming whole foods and a variety of fruits, including avocado, papaya, figs, berries, oranges, strawberries, blackberries, and dragon fruit, rotating his choices based on seasonal availability. He advocates for viewing food as medicine, rather than something to be “fixed” later with supplements. “You don’t need supplements to fix a bad diet,” he explains, “You need better food.”

His diet includes specific foods chosen for their health benefits, such as garlic for inflammation, blueberries for brain health, wild salmon for heart health, turmeric to calm cells, raw honey for immunity, grass-fed liver for nutrients, and pasture-raised eggs.

Brandao’s skincare routine is similarly straightforward, featuring a daily application of frozen cucumber to reduce puffiness and refresh the skin. He believes many people overlook simple, affordable solutions in favor of more expensive treatments. He also incorporates foods believed to support metabolism and reduce abdominal fat, including Greek yoghurt, broccoli, oatmeal, salmon, berries, green tea, olive oil, almonds, avocado, eggs, beans, spinach, quinoa, asparagus, legumes, black coffee, apple cider vinegar, lemon, and cayenne chillies.

He emphasizes that this approach is about nourishment, not deprivation. Brandao also prioritizes sleep, resting on his back to minimize facial creases, and uses mouth tape to encourage nasal breathing. He dry brushes before showering, stays hydrated with electrolyte water, maintains adequate fiber intake for gut health, takes magnesium glycinate to aid sleep, ensures consistent protein consumption for muscle maintenance, and uses a silk pillowcase to protect his skin.

Beyond physical health, Brandao incorporates practices to manage stress, including daily journaling and gratitude exercises. “A calm mind supports a younger body,” he states. He begins each day with ginger to boost energy, clarity, and digestion, setting a positive tone for the day.

Brandao, originally from Teresina in Piauí, Brazil, shares his lifestyle tips online, where he has garnered a following who often remark on his youthful appearance. He believes it is never too late to adopt healthier habits, asserting that “The number on your birth certificate doesn’t define your future, your habits do.” He finds fulfillment in inspiring others to prioritize their well-being, viewing the opportunity to demonstrate what is possible as a reward in itself.
