A courageous young man in his 20s who vanished while on a boat near St. Augustine in Florida, USA, has been miraculously rescued after enduring two days adrift at sea. Charles Gregory, the resilient survivor, managed to hold onto the boat just moments before it sank, gripping on for over 30 hours. The US Coast Guard played a crucial role in his safe retrieval.

According to CNN and other US media outlets, Charles Gregory (25) was rescued by the US Coast Guard 12 miles (approximately 20 km) off the coast of St. Augustine on the 5th. Gregory had set out on a 3-meter boat early in the morning of the 4th for a day of fishing. However, he was unexpectedly swept away by the strong current and fell overboard. After desperately climbing back onto the boat, he realized he had been carried away by the tide, clinging on just moments before it sank.

Gregory’s bravery and resourcefulness were evident as he clung onto the sinking vessel for a harrowing 30 hours. Raymond Gregory, his father, shared, “He said he was scared to death.” In a desperate attempt to slow down the boat’s sinking, Gregory even removed its motor. Throughout the ordeal, he had to endure scorching sun during the day and chilling cold during the night.

The US Coast Guard, aided by an HC-130 Hercules military transport aircraft, located Gregory approximately 20 kilometers off the coast after an extensive search effort. Fortunately, Gregory only showed signs of dehydration and did not suffer any major health issues.

This incredible story of survival and determination serves as a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
