Manchester United’s worst seasons in the Premier League | sports

With Manchester United’s humiliating loss yesterday, Monday, to its host, Crystal Palace, by a clean score, this ancient team has entered, mathematically and practically, its worst season since the 1970s.

Michael Olise scored a brace, while Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyreek Mitchell scored the other two goals for Crystal Palace, so United now faces the possibility of not participating in continental competitions next season.

Manchester United’s balance, which suffered its 13th loss in the tournament this season compared to 16 wins and 6 draws, froze at 54 points, currently in eighth place in the competition standings.

The numbers speak to United’s bad season, as:

  • He conceded 81 goals, which is the highest number of goals scored by Al-Manio since the 1976-1977 season.
  • For the first time in the team’s history, they lost 13 matches in one Premier League season.
  • The team is currently ranked eighth, which is the worst position it has occupied after the seventh place it occupied in the 2013-2014 season.

Because of these results and statistics, Jimmy Carragher (a former Liverpool player who works as an analyst on one of the stations) described “Man United” as one of the worst trained teams in the English Premier League, with pressure on coach Eric ten Hag intensifying.

Hague was forced to include 4 non-essential players in the defense line due to the injuries that plagued the team. United also missed its Portuguese star, Bruno Fernandes, and the number of injuries rose to 65 this season alone.

But former Liverpool captain Carragher did not sympathize much with the Dutch coach, and launched a violent attack on him after the match, saying, “This is one of the most poorly trained teams in the English Premier League. It is not an opinion, this is a fact.”

He added, “I understand that the back line lacked key players, and that your performance level will decline and your results will not be good when you are missing your best players, that is clear. But Hague needs to improve performances. You have to make us believe that there is something or you are working on something. If he loses his job, “I don’t think he can have any complaints.”

Casemiro played alongside Jonny Evans in central defence, but the duo suffered such a bad evening that Carragher believes the Brazilian’s days in the English Premier League are numbered.

Although Casemiro’s contract with United expires in the summer of 2026, Carragher advised the player – a five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid – to leave European football next summer.

The “Manu” is preparing for a heavy-caliber confrontation against its guest Arsenal next Sunday in the competition, before playing with its guest Newcastle in a postponed match, 3 days later, and then concluding its matches in the competition by facing its host Brighton on the 19th of this month.

It is possible that United will be in its lowest ever ranking in the Premier League, as it ranked seventh in the 2013-2014 season, which was the first after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson from the team, knowing that it is two points behind Newcastle United, which is in sixth place.
