Mauritania forces the Moroccan national team to a goalless draw in a friendly match in Agadir

The friendly match of the Moroccan national football team, this Tuesday evening, against its Mauritanian counterpart at the “Adrar Stadium” in Agadir, ended in a goalless draw 0-0 after the “Atlas Lions” prevailed in the previous friendly match, last Friday, with a score of 1-0 over the Angolan national team. .

Walid Al-Regragui made a change in the main roster, compared to the one that participated during the Angola match, to decide to rely on goalkeeper Yassine Bono and defenders Naif Akrad, Shadi Riyad, Ashraf Hakimi and Yahya Attia Allah.

The national voter also chose to rely, from the beginning, on the midfielders Amir Richardson, Osama Al-Azouzi and Ibrahim Diaz, and the attackers Hakim Ziyech, Elias Bensaghir and Sofiane Rahimi.

The beginning of the football confrontation came with a good defensive deployment by the “Al-Mourabitun” team in front of a prominent offensive push by the “Atlas Lions”, with the Mauritanians keen to fill the middle of the field, on the one hand, and cutting off the Moroccan passes in the last 18 meters in front of goalkeeper Abu Bakr Niass.

The remainder of the first round of the match between Morocco and Mauritania went in the same vein, despite the Moroccan team’s excellence in possession of the ball during this half. But the goalless draw remained stable between the two sides of this friendly match at the end of the first 45 minutes and stoppage time.

Moroccan voter Walid Regragui waited for the 64th minute to make the first change to the personnel composition of the “Atlas Lions”, introducing players Ounahi and Adly in place of Richardson and Bensghir, respectively, in order to give a new breath to the offensive structure.

The Moroccans almost scored against Mauritania in the 70th minute, after passing a cross into the opponent’s goal. But defender Shadi Riyad’s header crossed the crossbar by a few centimeters. Rahimi then penetrated the defense to pass to Brahim Diaz, but the Al-Mourabitoun defense cut off the ball at the last moment.

Right winger Hakim Ziyech tried shooting from afar in the 74th minute of the friendly match, directing the ball with a powerful kick from a distance of approximately 25 meters from the Mauritanian goalkeeper. But he missed the goal frame by a little.

The ranks of the Moroccan team were strengthened during the last quarter of an hour of competition with new elements. Most notably, Akhomash and Al-Nusairi, in order to break the goalless draw against the Mauritanian national team. But that did not prevent the friendly match from ending 0-0.

It is worth noting that the two friendly matches with Angola and Mauritania come within the framework of the Moroccan national team’s preparations for the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers, in addition to the African Cup of Nations finals that will be held next year on the territory of the Kingdom.
