McDonald’s Rolling Out Improved Burgers Nationwide
Updated June 17, 2025
McDonald’s is upgrading its classic burgers with a series of enhancements, including optimized cooking procedures and ingredient adjustments, aiming for a better taste and overall quality. These changes, already implemented in international markets and select U.S. cities like Los Angeles and Las vegas, will be available across the nation by early next year.
The move follows other recent menu improvements. In 2018, mcdonald’s switched to fresh beef for its Quarter Pounders, a change that led to increased sales. The fast-food chain also launched a crispy chicken sandwich in 2021, which has resonated well with customers.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said the company is gaining market share in both chicken and beef, thanks to the improved burgers and the popularity of items like the chicken sandwich. He added that core menu items are particularly relevant as customers seek familiar and simple options. In the U.S., sales at stores open at least 13 months jumped 5.9% in the fourth quarter of 2022, and 10.3% for the entire year.

Focusing on core menu items helps streamline kitchen processes. McDonald’s has also used celebrity meal promotions and adult Happy Meals to generate buzz around its signature offerings.
Kempczinski noted that some of the most triumphant campaign platforms in 2022 brought customers closer to the core menu items.
McDonald’s isn’t alone in its efforts to enhance main menu items. Burger King announced a plan last year to revitalize its business, focusing on improving the Whopper and increasing its visibility in advertising. The company held Whopper training sessions for franchisees and reported that the Whopper contributed to higher U.S. sales in the fourth quarter.
