New Tech Business Hub at Moulay Ismail University

The students and winners of the Moulay Ismaïl University in Meknes, Morocco, now have a brand-new center dedicated to innovation, incubation, and entrepreneurial excellence. The Tech Business Hub (TBH) was inaugurated during a ceremony under the theme “Student today, entrepreneur tomorrow.”

This significant development underscores Morocco’s commitment to fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem, akin to similar initiatives in U.S. universities such as those at MIT and Stanford. Both institutions have seen remarkable success in launching disruptive technology startups, contributing significantly to the nation’s economy.

“The UMI intends to maintain its vocation as ‘pillar of knowing where the spirits are formed and emerging professional careers,'” said the president of the University, emphasize the pivotal role of the university in shaping the country’s educational and entrepreneurial landscape.

Ahmad Mouchtachi, the president of Moulay Ismail University, during his speech at TBH Incubation Center. Mouchtachi launched an appeal to students to seize the opportunities offered by the digital era and technological advances to undertake and innovate. “This new center is designed, according to the University, to support young university entrepreneurs in the creation and development of innovative businesses by offering them an environment conducive to the emergence of very potential startups.

According to recent studies, startup ecosystems seeded by universities contribute significantly to job growth and economic development. Al Mouktachi highlighted the transformative effect of entrepreneurship within TBH as an opportunity for students. He emphasized that “student entrepreneurship at TBH is not only an option, it is an opportunity to experiment, dare and build something lasting.”

Prioritizing student entrepreneurs, the university has designed its approach to offer and prioritize business-incubation and startup development for students. Priority is given to students who have engaged in various competitions and hackathons geared towards entrepreneurship. The center strives to offer essential tools such as business pianning, connecticn with industry experts, and funding sources.
