Melodies of the Past: Taiga Drama Concert Brings ‘Hikaru Kimi e’ to Life with Yuriko Yoshitaka
NHK Taiga Drama “Hikaru Kimi e” to Host First-Ever Concert
The first-ever “Taiga Drama Concert” is set to take place on November 9th at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall in Hatsudai.
The event will feature an orchestra playing music from the drama, accompanied by a screen showcasing famous scenes from the NHK taiga drama “Hikaru Kimi e” (Sundays at 8:00pm). Yuriko Yoshitaka, the 36-year-old star of the drama, will also make a special guest appearance to enliven the event.
Titled “‘Hikaru Kimi e’ Concert - Numaru Concert,” the event will feature the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, with Yumi Fuyuno, the composer behind the main theme, serving as the music director. The concert promises to deliver a diverse range of music, including jazz-style songs, solo piano pieces, and songs incorporating classical instruments like the sho.
With over 100 songs featured in the play, many of which are not used on air for an extended period, the concert’s producer aimed to create an immersive experience that allows attendees to “look back on the famous scene at the end of the drama with a live orchestra and the music.” Composer Yumi Fuyuno added, “Let’s immerse ourselves in the ‘swamp’ that shines together with us through our auditory, visual, tactile, and olfactory senses!”
