In this episode, Meredith Grey decides to leave Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle and move to Boston with her three children to pursue Alzheimer’s research, following concerns expressed by her daughter Zola about Meredith potentially developing the disease like her mother Ellis Grey.

Meredith’s departure was portrayed as a thoughtful decision driven by family considerations. She admitted Zola to a school that matched her daughter’s skills and committed herself to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease through research in Boston.
