Holt and East Lansing Secure Conference Titles in High School Basketball
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan high school basketball regular season is nearing its conclusion, with the boys’ season in its final weeks and the girls’ season wrapping up in the next two weeks. Friday night saw both the Holt girls’ basketball team and the East Lansing boys’ basketball team clinch outright conference titles.
The Holt girls defeated East Lansing 50-35 in a key matchup, securing their championship. The East Lansing boys mirrored that success, defeating Holt 71-36 to earn their own outright conference title.
Beyond these championship-clinching games, a number of other contests took place across Michigan on Friday. Haslett’s girls’ team secured a 66-49 victory over Portland. Lansing Sexton’s boys’ team dominated Ionia with a 92-72 win. Olivet’s boys’ team defeated Charlotte 53-30, while Jackson Lumen Christi’s girls’ team won against Orchard Lake St. Mary 48-36.
Pewamo-Westphalia’s boys’ team achieved a decisive 70-46 victory over Detroit Country Day. Springport’s boys’ team defeated Concord 62-44. Waverly’s boys’ team secured an 82-51 win against Okemos, and Lansing Everett’s boys’ team edged out Dewitt 54-47.
Coldwater defeated Parma Western 42-33. Portland’s girls’ team achieved a significant 62-13 win over Eaton Rapids, and Jackson secured a narrow 60-58 victory against Chelsea. Marshall’s boys’ team defeated Jackson Northwest 53-48, while Lansing Catholic’s boys’ team won against Lake Odessa Lakewood 62-53.
Brighton Livingston Christian defeated Lansing Christian 60-51, and Adrian Lenawee Christian secured a 58-50 win over Ovid-Elsie. In girls’ basketball, Bath defeated Dansville 43-33, and Hanover-Horton defeated Jonesville 49-37. Ithaca’s girls’ team won against Saginaw Valley Lutheran 39-32, and Marshall’s girls’ team defeated Jackson Northwest 34-31.
Leslie defeated Napoleon 37-28.
The East Lansing boys currently hold an overall record of 12-0, with a perfect 1.000 win percentage. Holt’s boys’ team has a record of 10-4, with a 0.714 win percentage. The Holt girls’ team also boasts a 10-4 record, also with a 0.714 win percentage.
According to information available on SI.com, fans were heavily favoring East Lansing in their “Pick ‘Em Challenge” leading up to the game against Holt, with 12-00% picking East Lansing to win. Holt had 10-40% of the picks.
