[Financial Channel/Comprehensive Report]Due to Israel’s refusal to airdrop supplies to Gaza, Turkey originally only banned the export of 54 items of goods to Israel, including marble, cement, steel and aluminum. Now it has completely banned all Israeli goods that have arrived at Turkish ports. Unloading is also not allowed.

Israeli financial media “Globes” reported that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently announced that Turkey has decided to take measures against Israel because Israel does not allow Turkey to airdrop humanitarian aid to the Gaza corridor. The Turkish Trade Ministry subsequently announced a list of 54 commodities banned from export to Israel, including marble, cement, steel and aluminum.

The report pointed out that Turkish ports have begun to comply with instructions prohibiting the export of goods to the Israeli ports of Haifa and Ashdod. At the same time, Israeli goods arriving at Turkish ports are not allowed to be unloaded.

According to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute, Turkey’s exports to Israel in March this year totaled US$437 million, setting a record since the outbreak of the Israel-Kazakhstan war, while the value of Turkey’s imports from Israel was US$167 million.

Turkish Airlines suspends flights due to diplomatic tensions

Not only that, before Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year, Turkish Airlines operated more than 10 flights a day between Tel Aviv and Istanbul. Shortly after the Israel-Kazakhstan conflict broke out, Turkish Airlines announced that it would not resume flights to Israel until October 2024.

However, “Globes” discovered that the website previously open for booking of all Turkish Airlines flights to and from Istanbul-Tel Aviv has been canceled until March 2025. Turkish Airlines has not officially announced this news.

The report frankly stated that Turkish Airlines’ decision to cancel flights to Israel will have a significant impact on flight patterns to and from Ben Gurion Airport. Because Turkish Airlines operates flights to 340 destinations on four continents and is a world leader in connections, Istanbul is a popular stopover for Israeli passengers looking for cheap flights to destinations around the world.

Now, Turkish Airlines has decided not to resume operations at Ben Gurion Airport amid rising diplomatic tensions between Israel and Turkey.
