Mr Brahmachari is a Mohanlal film from 2003. Director Tulasi Das said that Jayaram was first considered for the role of Mohanlal. Thulasidas said that Mohanlal was approached to replace Jayaram based on his wife’s suggestion that Mohanlal would do the role better. He said this in an interview given to Master Bin Channel.
“When the story of Mr. Brahmachari came to my mind, I did not think who would do it. Then what came to my mind was Jayaram. Because at that time he was doing many films with him.
But even before telling him the story of the film, my wife said it would be better if Mohanlal did it. At that time, the characters played by Mohanlal are beyond our reach. He made great stories and characters that I couldn’t even think of back then.
I was skeptical how such a simple story could be brought to such an actor. I was thinking a lot when my wife said that. I felt it would be better if Mohanlal did it.
So I called Laleton on the phone. He was in Thiruvananthapuram at the time of the call. I think it’s because of that. Because it is not always in Thiruvananthapuram. So I went to the set and told the story,” Thulasidas said.
