“Rather than thinking about the distant future, I want to win the battle with myself and shorten the record step by step.”

Haejin Moon, a third year student at Jeonbuk Athletic High School, who has rapidly emerged as a representative track and field star representing Jeonbuk.

At the recent 102nd National Sports Festival, he won the gold medal in the 100m and 200m sprints in track and field.

Hae-jin Moon, who is a long-timer from his hometown, sweated while enjoying soccer and basketball with his friends on the playground, and he liked to run, so he participated in various sports events such as athletics as a regional representative.

When he was in the second year of middle school, he started to receive systematic track and field instruction when he caught the attention of coach Lee Soon-cheol of Jeonbuk Sports Middle School.

Although he started exercising later than the other players, he was able to rise to the top spot in this national sports event through unremitting efforts.

Moon won two gold medals with a record of 10.60 seconds in the 100m run and 21.35 seconds in the 200m run.

Although it fell short of the personal best records (100m 10.54, 200m 21.33), it was the first time in men’s high school history at the National Sports Festival that it won both 100m and 200m simultaneously, marking a milestone in Jeonbuk track and field history.

As such, Moon Hae-jin has become a promising player in the athletics world. But he says he should not be conceited and need more training.

This is because he has excellent agility and has good sprinting ability in the middle, but he has to overcome the weakness of his slow speed in the second half.

Moon Hae-jin said, “My current goal is to surpass Shim Min-gyu, who has a high school record in Korea, and achieve a record in the early 10s.”

He added, “I am very grateful to the coach, coach, and Jeonbuk Chego, who helped me learn the sport of athletics and set a good record. I will do my best to become world-class athletes like Usain Bolt and Carl Lewis.” / Reporter Park Eun-eun
