Musical Group Raises Funds for Paralyzed Artist’s Medical Expenses through Street Performances

Sriracha News Center – A Remarkable Endeavor by Volunteer Musicians: Street Music for a Cause

In a heartwarming display of compassion and talent, a group of dedicated volunteer musicians has taken to the streets to play music, not only entertaining passersby but also raising funds for a noble cause. The philanthropists who stop to listen generously donate the proceeds, which are then utilized to cover the medical expenses of a former artist who is battling left hemisphere paralysis.

On September 27th at 6:00 pm, the front yard of the Pacific Park Sriracha Shopping Center, located in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province, witnessed an extraordinary gathering. Led by Wiset (Pong) Phaichaisit, Executive Committee member of the Music Society of Thailand Under Royal Patronage, and Samatcha (Boy) Sawangprai, the mastermind behind the Music Group by Master Boy, a talented ensemble of artists and singers graced the event. They enchanted the audience with their melodious tunes, all while sporting hats as a symbol of unity under the “Music Volunteers” project. The purpose of this project is to utilize the earnings from their musical performances to support the medical expenses of Mr. Smith Bundit (Smith & Chain), a former artist who has been afflicted by left hemisphere paralysis. Present at the event was Mr. Paiboon Sermsat (I Bangkhae), President of the Sriracha Press Association, as well as a welcoming group eager to support the cause.

Prior to his illness, Smith Bundit was a part of the iconic duo band “Smith & Chain.” In 1996, they made their debut with the EP album “Music’s Chair” under Neo Music Network, which featured celebrated hits like “Keep in Your Heart” and “Because I Love You.”

After Smith Bundit’s unfortunate stroke and subsequent paralysis on the left side in September 2014, the “Voluntary Music Project” was conceived. This initiative aims to raise funds for the treatment of various former artists, including professional singers and musicians, who are facing health challenges. The project also invites young bands from different schools to contribute their musical talents, spreading joy among the listeners. The flea market adjacent to the Sriracha Pacific Park Shopping Center has become a popular venue for this inspiring musical endeavor, garnering significant attention from shoppers.

Ajarn Wiset Phaichaisit, the Executive Committee member of the Musical Society of Thailand under Royal Patronage, affirmed that the inception of the “Music Hat Opening Project” stems from the dire circumstances faced by musicians and singers during the lingering COVID outbreak. With unemployment and financial strains being rampant, this project grants struggling artists an opportunity to sustain their livelihoods and preserve their passion for music.

Furthermore, Ajarn Wiset highlighted that the “Voluntary Music Project” held at the front yard of Sriracha Shopping Center, Pacific Park, Chonburi Province, solely aims to generate income without deducting any expenses. All the funds raised will be exclusively allocated towards covering the medical expenses of Mr. Smith Bundit, the acclaimed singer, musician, and songwriter who has fallen victim to cerebral hemorrhage and currently grapples with partial paralysis.

“This event is graced by the presence of professional singers, musicians, and talented youth bands from various schools who come together to spread happiness through their enchanting music. The response from the audience, including shoppers at the flea market next to Pacific Park Sriracha Shopping Center, has been overwhelmingly positive. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage young individuals interested in music and parents with musically-inclined children. Music, previously regarded as a mere pastime, now offers a genuine pathway to establish a successful career, gain recognition, and build a commendable personality,” conveyed Ajarn Wiset, extending a powerful message to the community.

In conclusion, this extraordinary endeavor, fueled by the passion and generosity of volunteer musicians, not only captivates audiences with their undeniable talents but also serves as a beacon of hope for former artists in dire need. Through their remarkable musical performances, these selfless individuals are making a significant difference in the lives of those affected by illness, reminding us all of the profound impact that the power of music can have on the world.
