Musk Expresses Regret Over Trump Posts Amid Public Feud

Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and prominent figure, has publicly walked back some recent statements made about former President Donald Trump. This comes after a heated exchange between the two figures played out in public.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on June 11, Musk stated, “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump, last week. They went too far.” He did not specify which posts he was referring to.
The feud ignited after musk criticized the “One Big Stunning Bill Act,” a legislative package supported by the Trump management, calling it a “disgusting abomination” filled with wasteful spending. Musk had served as a special government employee in the Trump administration until late May.
Adding fuel to the fire, Musk also made controversial, and later deleted, claims regarding an alleged connection between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.
Musk previously claimed credit for helping Trump regain the White House, assisting Republicans in retaking the House, and increasing the party’s Senate seats from 51 to 53.
Trump responded to Musk’s criticism by threatening to eliminate federal contracts and subsidies for Musk’s various ventures. “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Musk initially retorted by threatening to decommission SpaceX Crew Dragon capsules, which at the time represented the United States’ only active means of human spaceflight. he later retracted this threat.
On June 6, when questioned about the seriousness of cutting contracts, Trump said, “We’ll take a look at everything. He’s got a lot of money. He gets a lot of subsidies.” When pressed about reconsidering ties with Musk, Trump only offered, “I just wish him well.”
During his 130-day tenure in the Trump administration, Musk advised the president and assisted the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in identifying areas for federal spending cuts and operational improvements.
Trump indicated that DOGE’s work was ongoing, with his administration “basically taking over” and many personnel remaining involved.
What’s next
The future relationship between Musk and Trump remains uncertain. It is unclear whether this expression of regret will ease tensions or if further disputes will arise.
