My place is reserved in the European Cup because of my “quality”

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has confirmed that his quality on the field and self-confidence can help him earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

Maddison, 27, played six international matches with the national team, but never played a full 90 minutes. Although he was in the squad, he missed the matches due to a knee injury during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He did not participate in the 1-0 defeat against Brazil in international friendly matches, but he participated as a substitute in the 74th minute against Belgium last Tuesday.

Maddison sent a low cross for Jude Bellingham to score a 2-2 equalizer in the 95th minute against Belgium at Wembley Stadium.

“There is great competition and there is a lot of quality in the team,” Maddison said. “I know the quality I have that can help this team. I don’t lack confidence and belief in myself to do that, you have to produce… Against Belgium I participated and made an impact. He (Southgate) showed it.” “What I’m capable of and I just want to show more of that.”

England will play in one group with Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia in the 2024 European Championship, which starts on June 14.
