On Sunday, December⁤ 14, 2025, the small ⁣town of Tab, located in Somogy county, hungary, elected Nándor Csizmadia as its ‍new mayor in a special election. The vote followed the dissolution of ⁤the previous representative body on September 15, 2025, and⁣ also saw⁣ the election of six⁤ new ⁢representatives.

Understanding By-Elections: ⁤A by-election, or special election, is held⁢ when a vacancy occurs ⁣in⁣ a political office before the end of the term. This can be due to resignation, death, or, as in ⁤Tab’s ‍case, the dissolution of the ⁤governing body.

A Divided Council Led to Dissolution

The⁤ decision to dissolve the representative ⁢body was made public by former mayor Gyula Nagy, who cited a⁢ breakdown ⁢in collaborative governance. According to a statement published on the settlement’s official website,⁢ Nagy ‍explained that the possibility of constructive cooperation and meaningful ⁤work in the board has ceased, wich has almost made responsible and ‍efficient local government operation⁣ impossible. This impasse ultimately led to the call for a new election.

Election Results and Voter Turnout

The election saw a turnout of 1,422 voters out‍ of a total electorate of ⁣3,353 – approximately 42.4%. Csizmadia secured victory with ⁤753 valid votes. Former mayor Gyula Nagy received 550 votes, while Péter Jámbor garnered 90 votes. A⁤ total of 29 ballots ‍were deemed invalid.

Candidate Votes
Nándor Csizmadia 753
Gyula Nagy 550
Péter Jámbor 90

Independent Depiction: ⁤ The ⁣election ⁤of both the mayor and the six representatives was conducted entirely from a pool of sixteen independent candidates, highlighting a strong desire for non-partisan leadership‍ within the community.

Looking Ahead for Tab

The election⁢ of Nándor‍ Csizmadia marks a turning⁣ point for Tab. The challenge now lies in fostering the constructive ⁢cooperation ⁣ that proved elusive for the previous council, as outlined by former mayor Nagy. ⁣The new mayor and representatives will need to address the issues that led to the dissolution of the previous body and work towards ⁣a more ⁤unified⁤ and effective local government.

Effective local governance relies on open interaction, collaboration, and a shared commitment to serving the‍ needs of the community.

The⁤ success⁤ of⁤ Tab’s new leadership will depend on its ability ⁤to bridge divides and prioritize the well-being of its residents.
