The Democratic Party called for the convening of the National Assembly Steering Committee, saying that suspicions of the President’s Office involvement had increased due to suspicion of external pressure in the Chae Sang-byeong incident, but the People Power Party he refused.

The National Solidarity of the Marine Corps Reserve filed a complaint with the Corruption Investigation Bureau against Public Service Discipline Secretary Lee Si-won, who confirmed that he spoke on the phone with President Yoon Seok-yeol and the head of Legal Affairs Yoon Jae-eun.

Yoo Jae-eun, a legal affairs official at the Ministry of National Defense, attended the National Assembly last year.

The prosecution team of the Ministry of National Defense revealed that it was the order of then National Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop to retrieve the investigation documents into Corporal Chae’s death from the Gyeongbuk Police Agency.

“The minister ordered the prosecutor’s office to investigate.”

However, former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop recently revealed through his lawyer that he learned about the recovery of the case documents after returning from a business trip to Uzbekistan.

However, he said that since the prosecution team that recovered the case belongs to the Ministry of Defense, this can be assessed as its work.

The Democratic Party said the positions of Justice Director Yoo Jae-eun and former minister Lee Jong-seop were different.

Regarding the phone call between Presidential Office Discipline Secretary Lee Si-won and Legal Affairs Officer Yoo Jae-eun, the ruling party criticized the request to convene the National Assembly Steering Committee as concerns grew suspicions about the intervention of the president’s office, but the ruling party refused.

“One of them is lying. When I said, ‘Let’s open a steering committee meeting,’ and ‘It has been revealed that Public Discipline Secretary Lee Si-won called, shouldn’t we check?’, he flatly refused.”

The People Power Party took the position that “we must receive a national assessment to see if the problem is so serious,” and also drew a line against Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong, saying: “The prerequisite for a prosecutor special is when the investigation is poor or there are problems.”

″Looking at the last few days, the Democratic Party feels like it is completely “clinging” to Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong… ”
