Microsoft announced on December 8th that it has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22518 to its development channel in “Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22518 | Windows Insider Blog”. This version contains some new features, which are expected to be featured in retail versions of Windows 11 in the future.
The main new features of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22518 are:
-Introduced a “spotlight” that automatically switches and displays the desktop wallpaper. It can be used by selecting “Personalization”-> “Background”-> “Windows Spotlight” from the desktop menu. It is expected to switch to a maximum of 5 backgrounds in 24 hours. -Introduced a function to display the widget entry point at the left end of the taskbar. Acts as a widget entry point while displaying weather content.If you have changed the position of the taskbar, the widget entry point will be displayed to the right of the task view icon.
-Changed to be able to install WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) from the Microsoft Store. Installing WSL from the Microsoft Store will make it easier to get the latest updates in the future
The Windows spotlight introduced this time is the same as the function already used on the sign-in screen and lock screen. With Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22518, this feature is also available for desktop backgrounds.
