In two rare events, a coalition led by the far-right party Brothers of Italy was swept into power. Georgia Maloney will be the country’s first female Prime Minister. When the final result comes today, it is estimated that the Italian Brothers alliance will win between 227 and 257 seats in the 400-member parliament. With Georgia coming into power, 15 out of 45 countries in Europe will be led by women. The ruling coalition includes the parties of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini, who is known as Italy’s Trump.
