Xinhua News Agency, New York, January 24 (Xinhua) The three major stock indexes in the New York stock market had mixed gains and losses on the 24th.
At the end of the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 99.06 points from the previous trading day to close at 37806.39 points, a decrease of 0.26%; the S&P 500 stock index rose 3.95 points to close at 4868.55 points, an increase of 0.08%; Nasdaq Gram Composite Index rose 55.97 points to close at 15481.92 points, an increase of 0.36%.
In terms of sectors, seven of the eleven main sectors of the S&P 500 index fell and four rose. The materials and utilities sectors led the decline with declines of 1.40% and 1.38% respectively, while the energy and communications services sectors led the gains with gains of 1.43% and 1.17% respectively.
