League Plus – Arsenal are leading the race ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Kaoru Mitoma this summer.

Last season, Mitouma emerged as one of the premier wingers in the Premier League, and his success is a testament to Brighton’s scouting department.

Despite suffering fitness setbacks that have limited him to 2,067 minutes across 26 games this season, Mithoma’s form has garnered significant interest from some of the Premier League giants ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, according to Fishages, despite interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, Arsenal are now in the lead to secure the Japanese international’s signature at the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta has faced challenges rotating players such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on a regular basis this season, and the addition of Maitoma will provide him with more flexibility and options to manage his squad effectively.

The report adds that Arteta is keen to strengthen his options in the wing position and is also considering a move to Real Sociedad player Takefusa Kubo.

While the Gunners have emerged as favorites to secure Mitouma’s signature, they are still likely to face stiff competition from Manchester clubs, especially United, who are expected to make wholesale changes in the summer under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Red Devils’ interest in the 26-year-old is not surprising given their struggles this season.
