League Plus – Harry Kane set a new record in the Champions League on Wednesday, despite Bayern Munich suffering a defeat against Real Madrid.

As a result, Kane will end his first season at the Allianz Arena without a trophy, following his time with his former club Tottenham Hotspur.

The only positive the England captain can take from Wednesday night is setting an individual record for goal contributions in the competition.

With his assist in Davies’ opener, Kane has made four assists in the 2023-24 Champions League campaign, in addition to his eight goals in 12 games.

This grand total of 12 goal contributions is the most ever by an English player in a single edition of the Champions League.

In total across his career, Kane has now scored 29 goals and nine assists in his 44 Champions League appearances, as he continues to enjoy an impressive individual season with Bayern Munich.

Kane scored 44 goals and made 12 assists in 45 matches in all competitions. By comparison, Robert Lewandowski only enjoyed three better seasons, all between 2019 and 2022 during his time with Bayern.
