Nick de Vries joins AlphaTauri F1 at the Abu Dhabi test[F1-Gate.com]

Nick de Vries is set to join his 2023 team, Scuderia AlphaTauri, at next month’s Abu Dhabi test.

After the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, F1 will stay at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Young Drivers test on Tuesday 22 November. Nick de Vries has been associated with Mercedes for a long time, having attended practices in France and Mexico City, carrying out two rookie duties for the team’s FP1 session in 2022.

“It was a very emotional session for me as it meant the end of my time in the car for the team,” said Nick de Vries, who finished his final run with Mercedes in FP1 of the F1 Mexican Grand Prix.

“But it ended well and we had a great time together, so I’m happy. We built it and now I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”

Nick de Vries has now been approved to begin preparations for his first full season in Formula 1 in 2023, working with Scuderia AlphaTauri at the Abu Dhabi test.

Nick de Vries made his F1 debut for Williams at the Italian Grand Prix as a substitute for Alexander Albon, finishing ninth and scoring points. I had just run the rookie Aston Martin FP1 on Friday that weekend.

Before signing with Scuderia AlphaTauri, Nick de Vries drove the Alpine F1 Team’s 2021-spec car at the Hungaroring as a private session that had been booked before Oscar Piastri’s move to McLaren was tested.
