Nicki Minaj Faces Assault Allegations from Former Manager

Los angeles, CA – Grammy-nominated rapper Nicki Minaj is facing a lawsuit from her former manager, Brandon Garrett, who alleges physical and verbal abuse during her “Pink Friday 2” tour in April 2024. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles superior Court, paints a disturbing picture of a heated confrontation that allegedly left Garrett with both physical injuries and emotional distress.

Garrett claims the incident occurred at Detroit’s Little caesars Arena, where Minaj was performing. According to court documents, the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over a task Garrett had delegated to another employee while he was occupied with other responsibilities.

The lawsuit alleges that Minaj reacted angrily, berating Garrett with insults and threats. “You’ve entirely lost your mind,” Minaj allegedly shouted, according to the lawsuit.”My husband would knock your teeth out if he was here!” Garrett further claims Minaj then struck him on the right side of his face, causing his head to snap back and his hat to fall off.

Garrett’s lawsuit details his subsequent fear and distress, stating that he sought refuge in a bathroom for several hours before being denied access to the tour bus and forced to arrange his own travel back to Chicago.

Minaj’s lawyer, Judd Borstein, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit “false and ridiculous.” Borstein stated that Minaj has not yet been formally served with the complaint and expressed confidence that the case will be swiftly resolved in her favor.

This lawsuit is the latest in a string of legal challenges for Minaj. In August 2024, she won a case against a blogger who falsely accused her of cocaine use, resulting in a public apology from the blogger. Minaj also faced a lawsuit from a former fan who alleged assault by her husband, Kenneth petty, in 2020.

Despite the legal battles, Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” tour, which concluded in October 2024, was a commercial success, encompassing 79 concerts across the globe in support of her highly anticipated fifth album. However, reports suggest that ticket sales for the second leg of the tour were sluggish.

The outcome of Garrett’s lawsuit remains to be seen, but it adds another layer of complexity to Minaj’s already eventful career.

Nicki Minaj assault Lawsuit: A Closer Look

Emily: Did you here about Nicki Minaj being sued for assault by her former manager?

Jake: No, really? I haven’t seen anything about that. What happened?

Emily: Apparently, her former manager, Brandon Garrett, is saying Nicki assaulted him during her “Pink Friday 2” tour in Detroit. He claims she hit him in the face and verbally abused him over a disagreement.

Jake: Wow, seriously? that’s a pretty serious allegation. Do we know anything else about what happened?

Emily: Yeah, Garrett says it happened at Little Caesars Arena. He states the argument was about delegating a task, and Nicki got really angry, threatened him, and then physically struck him. He even says he had to hide in the bathroom for a while after.

Jake: That’s crazy! Has Nicki responded to the lawsuit?

Emily: Yeah, her lawyer said the allegations are fully false and ridiculous. He claims Nicki hasn’t even been formally served with the lawsuit yet. So it’s her word against his at this point.

Jake: This isn’t the first time Nicki’s been involved in legal trouble, is it?

Emily: You’re right. She won a case against a blogger in August for false accusations and there was that lawsuit a few years back involving her husband.

Jake: It seems like this tour hasn’t been without its drama. Did it do well financially?

Emily: The first leg was a massive success, she sold out concerts worldwide. But now reports are saying ticket sales for the second leg have been pretty slow.

Jake: I wonder if this lawsuit will affect those sales even more?

Emily: It’s definitely possible. It’s a pretty damaging story for her, regardless of the outcome of the case.

Jake: It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. Thanks for filling me in on this!
