Ponce is hitless this season

Nippon Ham announced on the 4th that they have reached an agreement with pitchers Cody Ponce, Connor Menez, and infielder Arismendy Alcantara for a contract extension through the 2023 season.

Ponce has played in 14 games this season, going 3-5 with a 3.35 ERA. In the game against Softbank (Sapporo D) on August 27, he managed to achieve a no-run no-hit for the first time in 27 years in the team. Menez has pitched in 15 games and has one win, six shutouts, and a 1.08 ERA as a reliever. Although Alcantara hit a .209 batting average in 97 games, he showed 14 home runs and slugging power. Next season will be the second year that the three players come to Japan.
