A Chance Encounter in Maynooth
for eight-year-old Conor Healy, friday night became a story he’ll tell for a lifetime. A casual visit to Brady’s Clockhouse pub in Maynooth, Ireland, with his father, Ronan, turned into an unforgettable meeting with musical icon Noel Gallagher, ahead of his sold-out weekend performances at Croke Park.
Ronan recalled the serendipitous moment: “We were just going in for a pint and looked over – and there he was, sitting there. I don’t even think the people outside – there were about 100 of them – had any idea he was inside. He was just sitting at the old bar, having a pint with a couple of his mates.”

A promise kept
Young Conor, a devoted oasis fan, didn’t hesitate to ask for a photograph with his hero. Gallagher, known for his sometimes-reserved public persona, graciously promised to pose for a picture when he left the pub – and remarkably, he kept his word. “My little fella asked for a photo, and Noel said he’d take one on his way out – and he stuck to his promise!” Ronan shared. “As soon as he came out,he went looking for Conor, put his arms around him,and held on to him the whole time while people were trying to get photos.”
Ronan jokingly noted that Conor has now become a fixture in everyone else’s photos from that evening: “Any photo anyone took of Noel tonight in Maynooth – Conor’s in it too.”
The encounter resonated even deeper for Conor as of a shared passion beyond music. “He’s still high as a kite,” Ronan said, describing his son’s excitement. “He’s a big Man City fan and also being mad into Oasis, and Noel being a City fan too – that just sealed it for him. It was like two birthdays rolled into one.” Gallagher’s well-known support for Manchester City Football Club created an instant connection with the young fan.
Future Musician in the making
While Conor and his father weren’t fortunate enough to secure tickets to Gallagher’s Croke Park concerts, the magic of their chance meeting has already inspired the young fan. Ronan revealed that Conor has recently taken up the guitar and has already learned to play Oasis’s iconic hit, “Wonderwall.” ”He only picked it up in the last few weeks,” Ronan added, hinting that this encounter may have sparked a lifelong love of music and performance.
