In preparation for conflict with South Korea and the United States, Kim Jong Un orders the production of more missile launch vehicles
(AFP, Seoul, 5th) North Korean official media reported today that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has asked to expand the production of missile launch vehicles in order to prepare for a “military showdown” with South Korea and the United States.
According to the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim Jong-un said while visiting the Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) factory that the production of various tactical and strategic weapons transport vehicles is a key task to improve the country’s deterrence.
The North Korean Central News Agency said: “(He) stressed that the status and role of the factory is very important… This is because, given the current serious situation, it allows the country to make more solid preparations for a conflict military. with the enemy and expresses the tasks to be completed by the factory.”
The KCNA report came hours after the White House said today that North Korea had recently provided Russia with ballistic missiles and launchers for use in the Russia-Ukraine war, and that Russia had launched some of the missiles to attack the Ukraine.
For months, the United States has accused North Korea of providing military equipment to Russia in exchange for Russian technical support to help North Korea improve its military capabilities.
North Korea denies accusations of supplying weapons to Russia.
At a major inter-party meeting of North Korea’s ruling party last week, Kim Jong-un ordered North Korea’s military sector, arms industry and nuclear weapons to speed up preparations for war, saying US policies were making war is inevitable.
The North Korean Central News Agency said: “(Kim Jong-un) has clearly drawn up various short-term plans, long-term production plans and production capacity tasks for TEL production.”
