She further noted the importance of collaboration. “Today, the efforts are efforts of teams, individual hospitals, and therefore my ambition is that we try to grow as a country, giving better access in public health.” Araya also acknowledged Novo Nordisk’s role: “Novo Nordisk contributes with technology, with innovation, accompanies us, educates us, also inspires us and accompanies us in all our dreams and our follies that we want to undertake in public hospitals.”
Dr. Gonzalo ramírez, a nephrologist at Las Higueras de Talcahuano hospital, expressed his hopes for the summit. He aimed “to be able to connect with different specialists, nephrologists, diabetologists, internist doctors, who we are handling the patient with renal diabetic disease and being able to have new alternatives.” He added, “For me, it is indeed very interesting to be able to connect with different specialties, know our experiences.I believe that it is essential to be able to handle this line, in the context of education, accompanying, both of the teams, of the patients also… generate these events, for example, in which I as a nephrologist suddenly look at very kidney things, but the diabetologist, the internist, the endocrinologist will also give me another look with respect to how they use it; therefore, I think it allows us to connect with more people.”
