GENEVA: International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has said he has made a video call to Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai, who has not appeared in public over allegations of sexual harassment. Thomas Bach’s revelation comes amid growing international concern over the disappearance of Peng Shuai. He said Peng was fine and spoke with them on the phone for 30 minutes, thanking the IOC for its concerns about his well-being.

Peng said he was safe and comfortable at his residence in Beijing. But Peng said she was requested to respect his privacy this time and now wants to spend time with family and friends. The IOC says they will continue to play tennis and that they love sports so much. Added. Peng, 35, is a two-time Grand Slam doubles champion.

In early November, a powerful leader of the Chinese Communist Party and former Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli was accused of sexual harassment. Since then, Peng’s disappearance from public events has raised concerns about her safety.
U.S., U.K. The United Nations has also asked China to release information on Peng’s whereabouts.
