CPU performance
As the CPU, Intel 12th generation Core i7-12700K is used. The result of the CPU benchmark is quite excellent, but it is about 10% lower than the original score of Core i7-12700K. However, this is a result of the standard settings, so adjusting the performance settings to maximum output may improve your score.
However, as I have also verified other models, I feel that the OMEN series is not a PC that rotates at maximum performance, but a type that uses it with slightly reduced performance. This is due to the low cooling performance, which is probably why the price is cheaper than other companies’ products. The performance is more than enough to suppress it, so there is no problem at the general level.

Graphics performance
As a graphics function, GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB) or RTX 3070Ti (8GB), RTX 3080 (10GB)Is used. A 3D benchmark test was conducted on a machine equipped with the RTX 3070 Ti, and the results were reasonable for the GPU. The score may be a little low, but I think it can be done within the margin of error. The CPU seemed to be slowing down, but the GPU may be doing well.

Comfortable work with a PC
PCMark10 is a benchmark test that measures the comfort of working with a PC. The tests are relatively light, as they are intended for general work. The tendency of each test is that “Essentials” (general use) has CPU single-core performance and storage performance, “Productivity” (business use) has CPU multi-core performance and memory performance, and “Digital Contents Creation” (content creation) has CPU. And storage, GPU performance seems to have a strong influence.
Benchmark test results are very good overall. However, the perceived speed for general use and business work is the same as that of a PC without dGPU. When it comes to content creation, it’s not as good as high-end GPUs, but it’s more than enough. It can be fully utilized for purposes other than games.

Game performance
When I tried a game benchmark with a verification machine equipped with Core i7 + RTX 3070 Ti, it was judged that almost all games can be played comfortably in full HD. Even with WQHD (2560 x 1440 dots), if it is around 100Hz, there is no problem at all. However, 4K may have some tough titles.
For FPS in full HD, for those who just want a high frame rate. If it’s a popular middleweight title, you should be able to aim for 240-300 FPS by adjusting the image quality. For even lighter competitive FPS, you can go up to around 400-500 FPS.
Verification result summary
- ・ For WQHD 120-144Hz
- ・ 4K is tough for heavy titles
- ・ Ray tracing is for FHD
- ・ Middleweight FPS for 240Hz
- ・ Competitive FPS is 400-500Hz

About fever and noise
CPU temperature
When we measured the CPU temperature and power consumption at the time of benchmarking, the high temperature and high clock continued from the start of the test to about 1 minute, but after that, it has remained considerably low. The CPU benchmark test gave a slightly lower result, but the average temperature is as low as 76.5 ° C (74.5 ° C after the voltage drops), so it seems that you do not have to worry about deterioration of parts due to heat.
GPU temperature
When we conducted a stress test that puts a high load on the GPU, the “GPU Temperature”, which indicates the temperature of the entire GPU, finally remained around 82 degrees. Although it seems to be within the allowable range as a numerical value, “GPU Hot Spot Temperature” which is the partial maximum temperature of GPU is 90 ℃ or more, and “GPU Memory Junction Temperature” which shows the memory (VRAM) temperature of Gravo is It has been in the latter half of 80 ℃ and is quite hot. If you continue to use it for a long time in this state, the deterioration of parts may accelerate.
GPU heat can be solved by tuning the grabber. For example, when I used a software called “MSI Afterburner” to adjust the fan output and memory clock, the GPU performance dropped by a few percent, but I was able to lower the GPU temperature by about 3 to 8 degrees. If you push the settings further, you will be able to reduce the temperature within a range that does not affect performance. It also affects the driving sound of the grab, so please find the optimum setting according to your preference.

noise
With the standard performance settings, it is a level that makes you feel “Is it a little big?” Even under heavy load. However, be aware that if you adjust the performance settings, the fan rotation and exhaust noise will be quite loud. Especially if you manually set the fan output, you will hear sounds that make it difficult to use your PC. It is recommended to use the standard settings.
Driving sound measurement result
Power off | 37.4dBA | - |
---|---|---|
Waiting | 40.4dBA | The fan’s spinning sound is clear, but not noisy |
Standard setting when high load | 53.1dBA | The rotation noise and exhaust noise are quite loud. However, after about 2 minutes, it will drop to around 48. |
Performance settings Under heavy load | 56.6dBA | The sound is quite loud, but personally I can still stand it |
Manual setting standard | 61.5dBA | Very loud.A level that can not be a little unbearable |
Manually set the maximum | 68.8dBA | Impossible loud noise.Level of complaints from neighbors depending on the housing environment |
High-end PC with an emphasis on cost performance
The OMEN 40L is attractive because it is cheaper than other companies’ products in the same class. However, the cheapness may be due to the lower rank of the cooling parts. If you have achieved really high cooling performance, it should be reasonably quiet even if you maximize CPU performance. I was also worried that it seems that GPU cooling is not taken into consideration. Either the intake and / or the exhaust may be a little weak.
That said, it’s a good pre-assembled model for a major manufacturer. If you want more performance and quietness, spend more money on a BTO model or your own. Even if the performance is suppressed, I think that there is no problem at all for beginner to intermediate level. Unless you’re tired of maximizing CPU and GPU performance, it’s a good bargain.
