Cape Town: Omicron, a new variant of the corona virus, is reported to be spreading rapidly. In South Africa, 110 cases were reported. So far, more than 185 cases have been reported in 16 countries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the Omicron variant has a high potential for spread. But no deaths have been reported so far. The confirmation of the disease in six people who had not traveled abroad in Scotland has raised concerns.

Several countries have canceled flights in the wake of reports of Omicron outbreaks in various countries. In the wake of Omicron, the Department of Health in India has also issued new guidelines. Travelers arriving in the country are required to register with the Air Facility Portal and provide information 14 days prior to departure. Also the RTPCR negative certificate taken within 72 hours should be included in the portal.

Those arriving from countries reported by Omicron, the new variant of the Corona, must be screened at the airport. Leave the airport only after getting the result. The guideline states that even if the result is negative, one week home monitoring is mandatory.

It is reported that the decision to resume international flights will be taken only after examining the circumstances. According to the latest guidelines issued by the Central Government, the high-risk countries are EU countries including South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel and the UK.
