On the night of the 31st, the eve of the Lunar New Year, traffic on highways across the country is generally smooth, and on the 1st, the day after the Lunar New Year, the highway is expected to be very congested with vehicles returning to and from the city.

The Korea Expressway Corporation predicted that the nationwide traffic volume on the 1st would be 4.95 million, higher than the previous day’s 4.32 million. It is predicted that 370,000 units will move from the metropolitan area to the provinces and 450,000 units from the provinces to the metropolitan area.

The congestion in the direction of returning home started around 9-10 am, reached its peak around 1-2 pm, and was expected to dissipate around 6-7 pm. The road construction project expected that it would be released around 2 or 3 in the morning the next day.

Meanwhile, the travel time from Seoul tollgates by car at 10 pm on the 31st to major cities across the country is 4 hours 30 minutes in Busan, 3 hours 20 minutes in Gwangju, 3 hours 30 minutes in Daegu, and 2 hours 40 minutes in Gangneung.
