At the United Nations Security Council meeting convened at the request of the United States, Britain and Norway, 13 of the 15 member states excluding China and Russia unanimously condemned North Korea’s successive missile provocations.

The US said China and Russia were providing blankets to protect North Korea and urged member states to take joint action.

“North Korea is under the full protection of two member states in the Security Council. The two member states are the background to justify North Korea.”

However, China and Russia, which are permanent members with veto power, said otherwise, saying that the United States had contributed to the cause, including the joint exercise between South Korea and the United States.

“The missile was launched by North Korea as a result of the US military fighting around North Korea.”

“China calls on the United States to stop unilateral actions that exacerbate tensions and conflicts.”

In the end, the meeting was adjourned without discussing the adoption of a statement or further sanctions.

Except for the five permanent members, including the United States and Russia, the other 10 members issued a joint statement after the meeting urging a “unified voice on the issue of North Korea.”

Unlike China and Russia, it seems unlikely that additional sanctions at the UN level will come out.

The United States is very concerned about North Korea’s provocations almost every day, and stressed that if North Korea conducts its 7th nuclear test, it will respond promptly.
