Opposition leader VD Satheesan responds to LDF convener EP Jayarajan’s claims about Oommen Chandy
Thiruvananthapuram, 25 July 2023 – In a strong rebuttal to LDF convener EP Jayarajan’s assertion that Oommen Chandy was not a victim of political persecution, opposition leader VD Satheesan highlighted the lack of evidence found by police officers during their investigation. Satheesan argued that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s decision to seek a CBI inquiry was a deliberate attempt to demean the accused woman.
“Oommen Chandy is innocent in this case and no funds were misappropriated from the treasury,” stated Satheesan. He further criticized the Prime Minister for disregarding the repeated statements from investigating officers that there was no basis for a case against Oommen Chandy. Even when the CBI was ordered to investigate, Chandy confidently asserted that the truth would prevail, regardless of the investigating agency involved.
Satheesan accused the Prime Minister of attempting to humiliate Oommen Chandy in the twilight of his career, emphasizing that such actions would leave a lasting tarnish. “No amount of washing can erase the stain,” he said. Satheesan clarified his response, stating that he felt compelled to counter the LDF convener’s unfounded assertion that Oommen Chandy was not being pursued.
The Congress party is prepared to face a political showdown in Puthupally, and Satheesan asserted that they do not require anyone’s benevolence to defend the honor of Oommen Chandy.

Although the police officers investigated the case against Oommenchandy in turn, they could not find any evidence. Satheesan said that the chief minister had written a complaint directly from the accused woman and ordered a CBI inquiry only to deliberately insult her.
Oommen Chandy had not committed any crime in the case. Not a single rupee was lost to the treasury. The Prime Minister is not even ready to listen to the fact that the investigating officers have repeatedly said that no case can be taken against Oommen Chandy. Satheesan said that even when the CBI ordered the investigation, Oommen Chandy said, no matter who investigates, the truth will come out.
The Prime Minister tried to humiliate Oommen Chandy in the evening of his life. No matter how much they bathe, it will not disappear from their body. This is not what I wanted to say now. Satheesan said that he was replying only because the LDF convener had said that Oommen Chandy was not hunted.
The Congress is all set to face a political showdown in Puthupally. Satheesan said that the Congress does not need anyone’s generosity to protect the honor of Oommen Chandy.
