‘Phasmophobia’ Chronicle Update Arrives June 24, Bringing New Sound Evidence
Updated May 31, 2025
Kinetic Games’ “Phasmophobia” is set to release its largest update yet, Chronicle, on June 24. The update promises a total overhaul of evidence collection, introducing new ways to investigate paranormal activity.
the chronicle update will expand investigations with three new evidence types and a fully redesigned Journal. Players can also expect reworked leveling and progression systems, a refreshed Main Menu UI, and other surprises.

At the heart of the update is the debut of sound evidence. This new paranormal proof type can be captured using the new Sound Recorder. This adds a new dimension to gameplay, revealing clues that might or else be missed.
The Sound Recorder will be available in three upgrade tiers. Players can record audio from ghost events, Spirit Box responses, and paranormal sounds detected by the Parabolic Microphone.
The Journal is also getting an upgrade to accommodate the new evidence type. The Photo tab will be rebranded as “Media” to keep photos, videos, and sound recordings in one place. Players must fill their journal with unique media, including EMF spikes and ghostly interactions, to complete a perfect examination.
Kinetic Games also teased a revamped media quality system. The first capture of any media type will be marked as “Unique,” granting extra cash and XP. Subsequent captures of the same evidence will be classed as “Duplicates,” offering smaller rewards. The new system will also add tier bonuses based on the equipment used, making every shot, sound, and sight count more toward final payouts.
As exiting early access last October, the ghost-hunting sim has sold two million copies on console, bringing total sales across all platforms to 22 million. The development team recently outlined plans for 2025, including map reworks, new ghost-hunting equipment, seasonal events, and a new location.
What’s next
later this year, “phasmophobia” will rework Grafton Farmhouse, following the recent overhaul of Bleasdale Farmhouse. Before that, players will experience the new leveling and progression system and Main Menu UI when Chronicle arrives in late June, enhancing the ghost hunting experience.
